Michael Mulhern Football Consultancy

These are conversations, not lectures. Football is globally recognised, cross-generational and genuinely felt as a subject. These workshops treat it accordingly. Sessions are built around curiosity, shared cultural interest and honest discussion. Participants are invited to bring their own knowledge, memories and questions. There is no qualification at the end. There does not need to be.

Alongside the discussion workshops, the same approach is offered to clubs, academies, schools and individual coaches, through targeted training workshops and one-to-one coach mentorship. Coaching content is shaped around the group, from player development and talent identification to session design and communication with players and parents.

01

Expertise through experience

Insight from inside elite football. Not from a textbook. WSL, England Senior Women's, Newcastle United Academy.

02

Discussion and Q&A format

Every session is structured around discussion and questions. No passive listening. Participants shape the conversation.

03

Accessible to all

No football qualification needed. Cultural workshops welcome genuine curiosity, whatever your background.

04

Tailored to your group

Topics can be shaped around your group's interests, age profile or focus area: cultural, technical or both.

Workshop topics

Sessions are built around the topics below, each delivered as a structured discussion, not a lecture.

01

The History of FIFA & the World Cup

From Uruguay 1930 to the modern era: the politics, the rivalries, the defining moments and the people who shape the game's biggest tournament.

02

How the Game is Coached

Inside elite coaching: how it's actually managed and coached, and how teams really prepare. What does a session look like at WSL or international level?

03

The Evolution of Tactics

From WM formations to pressing systems: how football's tactical language has shifted, and what it looks like today.

04

The Women's Game

An honest account of the growth, challenges and landmark moments in women's football, told from inside the professional and international game.

05

Great Players & What Made Them

Beyond the highlights: what technical and psychological qualities separated the truly elite? A discussion grounded in coaching observation.

06

Football, Culture & Identity

What football means to communities, nations and generations, exploring the relationship between the game and the societies that shaped it.
